After Chelsea’s sublime performance and a 4-1 win against London rivals Arsenal in the Europa League finals, Belgian talisman and our best player on the day, Eden Hazard confirmed the speculation surrounding his transfer and said that it might be his last game for Chelsea after delivering the trophy to the Club.

The fans were all but sad that their prolific winger and the danger man was departing, and the Chelsea faithful found it challenging to accept that they may have to do without the services of their star man.

Shortly after Chelsea bagged three points against West Ham at Stamford Bridge, the media questioned our former coach, and now Juventus’ new coach, Maurizio Sarri if Eden Hazard could be replaced and this is what he had to say,

“It is impossible to find another Hazard. At the moment, there isn’t another Hazard; the level is too high. You’d have to find two players to make the level of Eden Hazard. So I hope Hazard stays, otherwise we’ll have to try something new”.

The Italian tactician all but confirmed that the Belgian could be on the move at the end of the season. The Belgian did not only win the hearts of the Blues fans but also the lovers of football. Everyone admired the speciality and masterpiece of the Belgian wizard, and opponents also dreaded the deadly moves and play of Eden Hazard.

However, after signing for Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid for a fee of about reportedly around €89 million, all attention is on Chelsea Football Club to see if there is a successful life after the Hazard era.

So let’s come to the main topic of discussion of this article. Who is this prince ready to be crowned king of the bridge? Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are in the minds of every single Chelsea fan at the moment but let us take a look at what could realistically be expected from them.

Chelsea Football Club’s new boy and American international Christian Pulisic looks poised to fill in the golden boots of Eden Hazard. Following his €58 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund, the American international was in fact asked if he is the man to replace Eden Hazard. The 20-year-old winger was humble in his answer and hailed the Belgian as a fantastic player, but he didn’t see replacing Hazard as his goal at his new Club rather, and creating his own identity was in his mind, and rightly so.

Pulisic is a young talent and also a developing player. Even though he did not enjoy a great season at Borrusia Dortmund after falling out favour to England international and golden boy, Jardon Sancho, Pulisic is what Chelsea fans hope to materialize into a deadly threat.

Pulisic’s lack of game time at Borussia Dortmund, however, did not cloud the fact that he may just be the man that Chelsea need at the moment.

With his glorious start of the CONCACAF gold cup registering one goal and three assists to his name, the Chelsea fans are craving to see the talented winger in action for Chelsea Football Club.

Now, what about our own hot academy prospect Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is yet another threat that Chelsea fans hope may replace the deadly deeds of Eden Hazard on the pitch. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s performances in the Europa League did not only catch the eye of the fans but also German giants and defending Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.

The German side almost got his signature in January as they promised him regular football time and also the legendary No.10 which was worn by their Dutch sharpshooter, Arjen Robben. This singular act made him submit a transfer request although Chelsea kept a deaf ear to him. During this period of transfer hiccups, he was handed his first premier league start against Brighton and to the amazement of all, he repaid the favour, giving an assist to Chelsea Striker, Olivier Giroud. This also earned him his first senior national call up from England head coach, Gary Southgate. He may just be the heir to the throne, maybe now, maybe in the future.

With first-team assurances looming ahead of him, he is set to end his transfer saga and sign a long-term contract with his parent club.

Although he is injured, the Chelsea fans can’t wait for him to get well soon. Callum Hudson-Odoi has also been tipped to be a great player in future by his senior teammates, the likes of David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and even Willian, and it is evident that they see a very bright future for him.

What about Willian and Pedro, though? Are they left out, or is there no place for them? I don’t think so. It would be unreasonable for the incoming coach to axe the only experienced wingers of the Club. It is true that of late, both players have been performing below par but come to think of it, Christian Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi still have a great deal to learn, and Willian and Pedro may be the help they need in achieving this.

Coupled with their loyalty to the blues, Chelsea Football Club need them at this difficult time especially to guide and help the young prospects to carry the Club to its greatest heights.

The incoming manager is sure going to have to make a series of tough decisions mainly on the wing options, but whatever decision it might be, we hope that it would fetch incredible results as the season is soon going to kick-off.

The fans remain divided as they have different choices on who should replace Hazard, however, be it Christian Pulisic or Callum Hudson Odoi, the fans want Chelsea to continue to thrive in England, Europe and the World at large and they won’t mind who can help them achieve this.

There is no doubt that the Club’s situation down the wings may look difficult right now but also known as a club who has risen to the top especially during difficult times, Chelsea Football Club has always been strong-willed and determined to prove the odds wrong and show the Footballing world that “BLUE IS INDEED THE COLOR”.
