It was more than evident during Chelsea’s loss to Newcastle United that we need a quality striker upfront to help, or at least challenge, Tammy Abraham at the Stamford Bridge and one of the players we were thought to be strongly pursuing is RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
Chelsea aren’t the only team after the 23-year-old German international though. According to Mirror Football, Liverpool have also shown interest in the forward, however, it should be more to inflate t his price for us more than anything else.
Werner, who added a brace in the 3-1 win against Union Berlin to take his tally of goals to 25 this season for RB Leipzig as the Bundesliga returned this weekend after the winter break, took to social media later on to express his delight.
Haben dich vermisst, Bundesliga,” which translates as “Missed you, Bundesliga.”
However, after one Chelsea fan took to Twitter to try and suggest that it might mean something else, RB Leipzig moved to send a message in response.
In reply to the fan’s suggestion that Werner’s post may be a hint towards a possible move, the Bundesliga club firmly put him in his place, adding:
“Nice try, not gonna lie. We fixed this though for you.”

This was accompanied by a mocked-up photo of a translation, which included the words: “I’ve seen Chelsea play vs Newcastle, so I’ll stay in Bundesliga,” accompanied by three emojis, including a wink emoji and a target emoji.
It is widely believed that Timo Werner, who is said to be interested in a Premier League move, would stay at the German club till the end of the season as they are headed towards their first league title.
