In a major transfer blow to Chelsea FC and Frank Lampard who are seriously in the hunt for a striking partner cum substitute for Tammy Abraham during the January transfer window, Real Madrid outcast Luka Jovic has announced that he would rather stay with the Los Blancos and fight for his position than join any of the Premier League sides, according to the Sun.
It is to be noted that Chelsea were trying to bring Luka Jovic on a loan deal till the end of the season if they could not reach an agreement with PSG for Edinson Cavani by Friday.
How good is Luka Jovic?
Another striker that the blues were after without any success was Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, who has also preferred to stay in France for the remainder of the season.
Jovic is firmly behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order for places at Madrid and has failed to take his chance when given playing time.
The 22-year-old, who scored 27 goals across the league and European competition for Frankfurt last season, has only netted once in 14 appearances in his first campaign for Madrid.
